Macchu Pichu Museum

On the way home from the market, or every day I went into town, I would walk past theMacchu Pichu Museum. It was evening and there were just an hour from closing, but I decided to spend the money and go in. Small but very nice. The building itself was very old, from colonial times and seemed to have been a monastery, to judge from the layout and the wall decorations. It actually contains the largest collection of M.P. artifacts in the world. I am presenting a small sample of them here. |

You can tell here that I am as fascinated by the building itself as I am with the Inca artifacts. Here an original inner wall decoration has been exposed. |

Here a doorway to a collection of antique Cuzco photographs, in themselves worth seeing. They offer an insight into life in the city at the times of the Macchu Pichu expeditions and exploration. | The excavations of M.P. revealed that there had been highly skilled metal workers at the site. Figurines and ceremonial axes were among the items discovered. |
